24th Falgun, Kathmandu – Yeti Airlines successfully conducted test flights at the Surkhet and Dhangadhi airports on Saturday.
According to Yeti Airlines spokesperson Sudarshan Bartaula, the airline’s ATR 72 aircraft, registered 9N-AMN, successfully carried out test flights at Surkhet Airport in Karnali Province and Dhangadhi Airport in Sudurpashchim Province.
The Yeti aircraft took off from Nepalgunj Airport and landed at Surkhet Airport at 12:17 PM. Later, the same aircraft departed from Nepalgunj and landed at Dhangadhi Airport at 2:45 PM.
The test flights were operated by Yeti Airlines' senior pilots, Captain Samartharatna Tuladhar and Captain Raju Rajbanshi. A team comprising officials from the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) and Yeti Airlines' technical staff and representatives accompanied the flights to observe the operations.
On the 20th of Falgun (last Tuesday), Yeti Airlines also successfully conducted a test flight at Rajbiraj Airport. The airline aims to launch regular flights to these destinations in the near future and use them as alternative airports when needed.
Currently, Yeti Airlines does not operate regular flights to these airports. However, based on the test flight reports, the airline is preparing to start scheduled services soon.
Yeti Airlines' Accountable Manager and Chief Commercial Officer, Yubaraj Kumar Bista, stated that the airline is expanding its flight network to meet passenger demand and increase its market share. He expressed confidence that the introduction of regular flights to these airports would further strengthen passengers' trust and preference for Yeti Airlines.
With the entry of Asian Life Insurance into Yeti Airlines, the company has adopted an aggressive market strategy, prioritized passenger convenience, and maintained a strong commitment to flight safety. As a result, passenger confidence in the airline has grown, and it is regaining its former operational strength.
Currently, Yeti Airlines has an occupancy rate of 85-90%. The airline operates seven ATR 72 aircraft, offering regular flights to Kathmandu, Chandragadhi, Biratnagar, Janakpur, Simara, Pokhara, Bhairahawa, and Nepalgunj, along with mountain flights. The airline also plans to expand its services with additional aircraft shortly.
